Chapter 2: Awakening of Power

Lin Zhan stood motionless in the clearing, the disintegrated remains of the undead creature scattering in the wind. His breath came in shallow gasps as he tried to grasp what had just happened. He had defeated a monster—a terrifying, undead monster—in mere moments, and with no real understanding of the power that had surged within him. The strength, the energy, it had felt... natural, yet so foreign.

He glanced down at his hands, his fingers trembling slightly. His heart still raced from the adrenaline, but beneath the fear and confusion, there was something else—a burning curiosity. What was this power? And where had it come from?

“Host, do not be alarmed. Your abilities are still awakening,” the voice of the Golden Finger system echoed in his mind, steady and calm. “The power within you has only begun to take shape. In time, you will learn to control it.”

"Control it?" Lin Zhan muttered, his voice shaky. "What the hell is going on here? Why am I even here? Where is this place? Why did I get pulled into this world?"

“This world is known as Blue Star. A world governed by the strong. Your arrival here was not by chance. You were chosen to carry the Golden Finger, a tool that grants you power. Your task is to survive, grow stronger, and ultimately, become the strongest.”

Lin Zhan took a step back, his thoughts swirling in confusion. "The strongest? In this world? But why me? What do I know about surviving in some... strange place like this?"

The voice didn’t respond immediately, but Lin Zhan couldn’t help but feel a presence lingering in the back of his mind. It was as if the Golden Finger itself was watching him, observing his every move.

He shook his head, trying to clear the haze of disorientation that clouded his thoughts. "I need answers. I need to figure out what’s going on here. I don’t belong in this world."

“Host,” the voice finally replied, as if sensing his frustration. “The Golden Finger will guide you. But you must take the first step. This world is filled with monsters, power struggles, and dangers. You must harness your abilities and learn to adapt.”

Lin Zhan’s mind raced. Monsters? Power struggles? This world sounds like something straight out of the novels I used to read as a kid.

For a brief moment, he almost laughed. It was absurd. One moment, he was an average tech worker living a boring life on Earth. The next, he was trapped in a bizarre world with the power to fight off undead creatures, but no clue how to navigate this strange place or even how to survive.

But the more he thought about it, the more his survival instincts kicked in. He had no choice. Whether this was some kind of dream or reality, he was here now. And if he wanted to live, he would need to find a way to survive.

Lin Zhan took a deep breath, his chest rising and falling as he steadied himself. The sun was higher now, casting an eerie red glow over the landscape. He couldn’t just stand there in the middle of this strange forest. He had to move, to learn, to adapt.

“Where do I begin?” Lin Zhan asked, his voice steadying as he began to grasp the weight of his situation. “What’s the first step in this... survival game?”

“You must begin by cultivating your power,” the voice responded. “You have already awakened the first stage of the Golden Finger system. However, it is not enough. You must train and battle to unlock your full potential.”

Lin Zhan’s brows furrowed in confusion. Cultivate? He had no experience with cultivation techniques. He had always been more of a tech-savvy person, not someone who understood martial arts or fantasy power systems. He didn’t even know how to start.

But the voice, calm and impassive as always, continued.

“Your first task is simple. Find the nearest settlement. There, you will find trainers, individuals capable of guiding you in harnessing your abilities. They may offer you quests, missions, or tasks to complete, which will allow you to grow stronger. But be cautious. Many will test you, challenge you, and some may even try to use you for their own gain.”

Lin Zhan took a slow step forward, his eyes scanning the dense forest around him. The trees were thick, their branches intertwining in such a way that the sunlight barely reached the ground. There was a sense of danger in the air, a tension that Lin Zhan could feel in his bones. Yet, despite the fear, there was a strange sense of purpose stirring deep within him.

“Alright,” Lin Zhan muttered to himself, gathering his resolve. “I’ll find a settlement. If this world is anything like those novels, there’s bound to be some sort of city or town nearby.”

The voice in his mind spoke again, as if offering encouragement.

“That is the right mindset, Host. Keep moving forward. Strength comes to those who persist.”

Lin Zhan nodded silently, tightening his grip on his shirt as he prepared to venture deeper into the unknown. The strange energy he had felt earlier still lingered in his body, a reminder of the power he could unleash. But he couldn’t rely on that power alone. He would need to learn more, train, and adapt to survive in this new world.

The sound of rustling leaves snapped him out of his thoughts. His body tensed as he instinctively crouched low, his senses heightened. It could be another monster, another undead creature ready to challenge him. He wasn’t sure if he was prepared for another battle, but there was no turning back.

A shadow shifted ahead, emerging from the foliage. Lin Zhan’s hand instinctively shot out, ready to unleash another burst of energy. But what emerged from the trees wasn’t a monster.

It was a person.

A man, tall and broad-shouldered, with a weathered face and a long, flowing cloak. His eyes were sharp, a deep blue that seemed to pierce through Lin Zhan. He carried a long sword on his back, its hilt adorned with strange markings. His aura radiated power, the kind of presence Lin Zhan knew could only belong to someone who had seen countless battles and lived to tell the tale.

The man didn’t seem surprised to see Lin Zhan standing there, his expression neutral as he observed the newcomer.

“You’re not from around here, are you?” the man asked, his voice low and gravelly.

Lin Zhan hesitated for a moment before responding, still unsure of how to explain his situation. “No... I’m not. I just... woke up here. I don’t know what’s going on.”

The man raised an eyebrow, his gaze scanning Lin Zhan’s unarmed form before falling back to his eyes. “You’re fortunate. The forest is full of dangerous creatures. It’s not wise to wander without preparation.”

Lin Zhan swallowed hard. “I... I don’t know how to survive here. I’m not familiar with this world.”

The man’s expression softened just slightly, as though he understood Lin Zhan’s predicament. “Then you’ve come to the right place. I can offer guidance. But first, you must prove you’re worth my time.”

Lin Zhan’s heart skipped a beat. Was this another test? Another challenge? He wasn’t sure if he was ready to face anything else, but it seemed like there was no other choice. If he wanted answers, he would have to take the first step.

With a deep breath, Lin Zhan nodded. “I’ll prove myself.”

The man smiled faintly, a glint of approval in his eyes. “Good. Follow me.”

And so, Lin Zhan’s first step into the world of Blue Star truly began—under the guidance of a mysterious stranger in a world filled with monsters, secrets, and untold power.
